As WTO now supports multi-stream releases, it is necessary to establish a release process in upstream repos to correctly tag releases. This is currently done ad-hoc, with tags for releases prior to 1.5.0 created in the main branch.
For future releases, WTO should e.g. follow the DevWorkspace Operator process:
- Z-stream release branches are created from main for each release
- Version number in release branch is updated accordingly
- Bugfix releases are tagged within release branches
The mid/downstream configuration should be updated to match this structure, so that e.g. the downstream 1.5 release branch only tracks changes to the upstream 1.5 release branch.
