The --sourceMode has only see three uses, and all are just selecting what the debugging output message will say.

But it could be more useful: Some rules only aim for source analysis, other only for binary.

We should make the sourceForge variable tri-state - true/false/unknown, and 1st 2 would filter some rules.
That would need some more rules metadata.
