    Description

      User or Developer story

As a WMCO developer, I want to enable the Containers Windows feature through WMCO if it is not enabled by default on the machine to be configured.

      Description

The containers feature is required to be enabled irrespective of the underlying Container runtime used. This feature used to come as a default enabled with Windows images with Containers, which are no longer provided by MSFT from the Windows Server 2022 release. Therefore, it needs to be enabled by WMCO if it is not already enabled by the user.

      Engineering Details

WMCO will check if the Containers feature is enabled on the machine to be configured. If it is not configured, it will enable the feature and reboot the machine. This operation will be done through a powershell script transferred to the Windows instance as a part of the payload. After the reboot, SSH connection will be re-initialized to proceed with rest of the configuration steps.

      Acceptance Criteria

      Existing e2e tests pass.
