      Description

Windows Server 2022 support is blocked by an OS bug that affects East-West networking. When Microsoft releases the patch publicly (targeted for mid-April 2022), we will need to create a new golden image and use this image in CI.

      Engineering Details

Follow the guideĀ Building the vSphere Windows VM Golden Image programmatically

Coordinate in forum #vsphere-ci-triage the replication of the `windows-golden-images/windows-server-2022-template` VM Template to IBM Cloud environment.

Release repo work will be required. WMCO work will also be needed (change container images being pulled in e2e suite as needed to have vSphere and platform=none jobs test with 2022)

      Acceptance Criteria

      • Support Windows 2022 for vSphere, platform=none, and baremetalĀ  - both for machine sets and as BYOH node
      • Add a golden image template in vSphere using a Windows 2022 ISO with the networking patch.
        • Internal IP and VIPs appears in the vCenter dashboard once VM joins as cluster node.
      • Ensure new `windows-golden-images/windows-server-2022-template` VM Template gets copied to IBM Cloud environment
      • Docs surrounding Windows Server 2022 support (draft commit)
