Evaluate having a Hibernate Search layer, primarily so it can be made an optional dependency of the jpa layer (and thus excluded by those who aren't using it.)

Tricky part is this layer would logically depend on a non-existent 'hibernate-orm' layer. Or it could not be part of 'jpa' at all but instead depend on it, but that would be an incompatible change.
