Feature Overview
Once Windows Server is available for ARM, we need to have proper SVVP validation in order to certify Windows Server for ARM.
Goals
As a customer I want to be fully supported by Microsoft and Redhat in case of running Windows for ARM on OCP Virt.
Requirements
Requirement | Notes | isMvp? |
---|---|---|
Be able to run Windows on ARM | This is the basic in order to even run SVVP tests | yes |
Have all the virtio drivers available for Windows on ARM | This is needed for proper performance | yes |
Have all Drivers WHQLed | this is not necessarily needed for the initial release. | no |
Pass SVVP certification for Windows on ARM on OCP Virt | This is the important part | yes |
Have OCP Virt for ARM listed as Hypervisor for Windows Server on ARM by Microsoft | This is the result of the successfull SVVP submission | yes |
Background, and strategic fit
The goal is to have Windows supported on all architectures onn OCP Virt not just for x86 only.
Assumptions
- Windows Server will be released for ARM
Customer Considerations
- none
Documentation Considerations
This should be documented the same way as it is documented for x86 today.
User Experience Considerations
As described this feature seemingly does not require UXD support. If that is not the case, please update this section and add the 'UXD' component to this feature.
