      Background

A total of 11 interviews were conducted between August and September 2024 to identify pain points in the current MTV Operator experience.

Seven areas were identified based on the frequency of testimonials, several of which will be focused on via this Feature, namely:

      • Learning Curve
      • Discovery & Assessment
      • Monitoring
      • Other General UI Issues with plan creation and use

      Goals

This feature captures resolving the pain points discovered via the field research captured in the related deck, which was created via HPUX-155.

UXD will design experience updates to the MTV operator GUI, including the 'Create migration plan' wizard and the list & details views conveying migration statuses, that will address pain points that are highlighted in the related pain points deck.

      Examples:

The 'create migration plan' wizard in it's current form is not highly user friendly to someone with no experience with OpenShift. This Feature will include updates to make each field's purpose more clear to the user and also learnable if they aren't familiar with the setting. (Example: "What's a project or a namespace?")

The 'migration plan' list and details view don't provide adequate status information for a currently running or completed migration plan. This Feature will include updates to these views to better convey currently running migration's progress as well as statuses when their is success or failure. (Example: "The plan says 'Running' for hours, is it actually doing anything or has something gone wrong and it's stuck?")
