To Do
Description:
Following successful OLMv1 testing of the OpenTelemetry and Tempo Operators in TRACING-5718 TRACING-5719 , this epic focuses on implementing the required changes to the Konflux to ensure full OLMv1 compliance.
The goal is to automate the production, validation, and publishing of OLMv1-compliant Tempo and OpenTelemetry operators via Konflux. Once the build and release pipelines are updated, new builds will be generated and validated under OLMv1 to confirm successful installation and runtime functionality.
This work will also ensure that future releases of the OpenTelemetry and Tempo Operators are OLMv1-compliant by design, minimizing manual intervention and validation overhead.
Scope and Objectives:
- Konflux Build and Release Updates
- Review and update Konflux pipeline definitions for both OpenTelemetry and Tempo Operators.
- Ensure OLMv1-compliant bundle generation (including updated metadata, manifests, and catalog structures).
- Integrate OLMv1 validation and compliance checks into the Konflux CI pipeline.
- Enable automated OLMv1 bundle signing, image publishing, and catalog updates aligned with Red Hat certification requirements.
- Rebuild and Validation
- Trigger new Konflux builds for both operators using the updated configuration.
- Validate new builds under OLMv1 for successful installation and runtime operation.
- Capture installation and runtime validation results and record them in the linked Jira issue and verification documentation.
- Reporting and Coordination
- Document build and validation results, including feedback on the OLMv1 build process.
- Coordinate with the OLM team for guidance and verification of OLMv1 compliance.
- Maintain communication in relevant Red Hat collaboration channels for ongoing updates and support.
Deliverables:
- Updated Konflux build and release pipelines supporting OLMv1 operators.
- Verified OLMv1-compliant builds for OpenTelemetry and Tempo Operators.
- Documentation of new build and validation results linked.
- Automated OLMv1 compliance integrated into ongoing CI/CD workflows.
