The size of a product's policy chain that can be created/updated in the system is limited to 65,535 bytes. So trying to larger policy chain using 3scale toolbox command
3scale policies import
will fail.
This RFE is to allow policy chain with sizes greater than 65,535 bytes to be created/updated
Dev Notes
The client wants to know if setting the column to MEDUIMTEXT will break something somewhere. It seems that it probably wouldn't from the point of view of the porta component. In any case they would need some downtime, but it should just work fine. We don't know what other limits might be hit - this would be outside porta (could be backend/apicast), and possibly in the porta UI.
The time to change a field to MEDIUMTEXT is minimal but we have some limitations in SaaS and, just to reiterate, we should not start differentiating between SaaS / on-prem / RHOAM. As amasferr mentioned, there is also the consideration of what it would take to back that change out once it's already done in a production environment.
See information about the investigation into consequences of doing this here.
