Currently to integrate monitoring, we are requested to install a separated grafana operator even if the grafana component is already included in OpenShift 4.6+ Understanding the monitoring stack it says
The Grafana analytics platform provides dashboards for analyzing and visualizing the metrics. The Grafana instance that is provided with the monitoring stack, along with its dashboards, is read-only.
There are some other products which could be monitored in the way that does not require to install a grafana operator but deploy a grafana deployment, for example AMQ Streams, see 7.3.3. Deploying Grafana with a Prometheus datasource
Could we enhance our product design to not request customers to install a separate grafana operator but use a deployment to achieve the same monitoring goal?
Since grafana operator is a community operator and we claimed to not support it, it just doesn't sound right for enterprise customer having to install a mandatory-but-not-supported-community-operator to monitor 3scale.
