Due to the gateway architecture today, there are certain configurations that would make it more performant than others. Benchmark software used could also make it seem more / less performant than it really is.

Understanding the way it works and how to optimize the gateway's performance is not intuitive enough and so this issue is about introducing improvements in that area.
