Document the identifiers and parameters exchanged between the Billable Usage system and the AWS Marketplace component.
Done:
- Listing all identifiers sent from Billable Usage to AWS Marketplace and describing their purpose.
- Documenting parameters in requests to AWS Marketplace and detailing the responses received, including any specific formats or structures.
- Identifying gaps in current logging practices and recommending improvements to ensure comprehensive tracking and easy troubleshooting.
- Document error codes and response scenarios from AWS Marketplace, along with actions for each, as a quick-reference cheat sheet.
- Splunk query
This documentation will support troubleshooting and improve operational clarity when working with AWS Marketplace interactions.
For example:
- AWS
- AWS CustomerIdentifier
- MeteringRecordId – This is the unique identifier that comes back as part of the UsageRecord from AWS when usage is successfully submitted
- Customerreference_id
- seller account id (which RH seller account was used)
- aws product code
- Possible statuses: Succeeded, failed, or duplicate (considered a success response)
