      Epic Goal*

      What is our purpose in implementing this?  What new capability will be available to customers?

      Improve the error message displayed when a pod is trying to attach a volume that does not match the label/selector.

      If a pod is running in a specific Availability Zone but has a Volume attached from a different Availability Zone (or even Volume from multiple Availability Zones), scheduling of the given pod fails with the below Event.

      17s         Warning   FailedScheduling         pod/hostname-6789bfb487-7m5pf      0/6 nodes are available: 1 node(s) had volume node affinity conflict, 2 node(s) didn't match Pod's node affinity/selector, 3 node(s) had untolerated taint {node-role.kubernetes.io/master: }. preemption: 0/6 nodes are available: 6 Preemption is not helpful for scheduling.

       
      Why is this important? (mandatory)

      What are the benefits to the customer or Red Hat?   Does it improve security, performance, supportability, etc?  Why is work a priority?

      Current error message is considered not explicit enough and prevent non OCP power user to easily debug such errors. This can impact OCP onboarding experience.

      • QE - Test scenarios are written and executed successfully.
      • Technical Enablement - Slides are complete (if requested by PLM)

      • All associated work items with the Epic are closed
      • Epic status should be “Release Pending”
