Currently, our Knative installation is using an older version that emits telemetry metrics via OpenCensus. The newer Knative release has migrated to OpenTelemetry, which introduces breaking changes in the default metric names. This may cause compatibility issues for downstream consumers, dashboards, and alerts that depend on the existing metrics.

The objective of this story is to investigate whether there are approaches or configurations that can help us avoid or mitigate breaking changes when upgrading Knative.
