Goal:
- As a partner engineer, I would like if I can validate a cluster installed with platform type External with hypershift operator, installing hosted clusters with platform type None.
- Check if there are additional e2e tests/suites to validate HCP components
- Check if we can run regular conformance tests on hosted clusters, and what to expect using OPCT workflow
- Check if it is possible to install hosted clusters with platform type External
Acceptance criteria:
Answer the questions:
- Can we install hypershift on management clusters installed with platform type External?
- Can we create hosted clusters with platform type External?
- Is there specific hypershift conformance tests to run on management clusters?
- Is the existing conformance suite workflow, used by Oracle (opct, openshift/conformance suite), works/pass in hosted clusters?
Define the next step:
- Create any relevant card to track* the validation of an OpenShift cluster with HyperShift operator installed, and a hosted cluste
- *track depend of the spike, it could be documentation change, tooling patches, etc
Context / Engineering documents:
- [1] Slack thread of Oracle intents to validate HCP using OCI deployment
- [2] HyperShift has a guide to install hosted clusters with platform type None: https://hypershift-docs.netlify.app/how-to/none/create-none-cluster/#procedure
