In case of the consumer failing to consumer the message, SCS supports retry logic. At the moment Artemis binder seems to retry indefinite number of times. However, SCS configuration defines spring.cloud.stream.bindings.<channelName>.consumer. maxAttempts property which should limit the number of attempts (potentially such messages should to to the dead letter queue).
