This EPIC tracks the integration of Conmon v3, a redesigned container monitor for Podman 6. This addresses shortcomings in the current conmon that Podman needs resolved, improving its architecture so new significant features can be developed at a later time.

Conmon v3 represents a complete rewrite in Rust to provide better maintainability, enhanced logging capabilities, and improved error handling while maintaining compatibility with existing Podman interfaces.

This work includes:

• Integrating the new Rust-based Conmon v3 into Podman
• Implementing plugin-based logging system
• Implementing a conmon specific test suite
• Testing compatibility and performance improvements
• Ensuring backwards compatibility with existing interfaces

This EPIC is part of the broader Podman 6 initiative targeting Spring 2026 with Fedora 44.

Individual stories will be created under this EPIC to track specific Conmon v3 integration tasks and improvements.
