      Buildah and Podman now support the `--link` flag for ADD and COPY instructions in Containerfiles, which cause the new content to be added as its own layer in the built image.

      Description

      Goal is to increase compatibility with BuildKit switches and Dockerfile syntax such as `ADD/COPY --link`, `ADD/COPY --exclude`, and `COPY --parents`.

      For RHEL 9.7/10.1, the only remaining feature is `ADD/COPY --link`, the other two options were provided in Podman v5.4 and RHEL 9.6/10.0.
