It would appear json-itertor/go is perhaps a dying project.  We primarily use json-iterator as our marshalling/unmarshalling library.

Once issues raised in https://docs.google.com/document/d/13B2quVEhYTGKK-0IaKJRMGiOSe5kJgvsBIa_Ajxyk3k/edit?usp=sharing have been resolved then this work can be scheduled again
