PROBLEM
We are facing issues with the stability of the openshift installation on GCP. The problem is related to the Google Terraform provider used by the openshift installer.
ACTIONS
One option to solve this problem is to move from GCP to AWS. Most of the OCP testing is done on the AWS platform, and our expectation is that installation works better on AWS. However, we are not sure, and we should evaluate the required effort and expected results.
We should check the following:
- stability of cluster creation on AWS
- cost difference between GCP and AWS (primarily VMs used for openshift-4 tests)
- effort required to change the existing pipeline to use AWS
- other risks (i.e. new set of instability in tests)
- do we have to migrate our AWS clusters from AWS west to east (to be closer to runners) - or can we move runners to the west side
