FAR v0.6.0 supports a new action for shutting down a node, but it doesn't work automatically on baremetal environments due to the BareMetalOperator (BMO).

      Workaround

Follow https://access.redhat.com/solutions/7093822 and https://book.metal3.io/bmo/detached_annotation on how to annotate the MachineSet or BMH so that a node can be kept off. But we should consult the consequences of detaching hosts:

      • Manually changing the power state by switching the online flag on BMH CRs won't work anymore
      • Automatically changing power state won't work anymore, e.g. with Metal3 remediation
      • What other use cases exist in baremetal clusters that need power switching via baremetal operator?

We can ask for help in Slack Channel #forum-ocp-metal-platform
