One of the features provided out of the box in Operator SDK 0.11 is exposure of default operator and CR metrics. This would then be usable on custom Prometheus instances.

OpenShift 4.3 further adds to this by providing OOTB user workload monitoring (TP). However, the metrics CR is currently missing a ServiceMonitor, that prevents it from being observable.
