Outcome Overview
This outcome aims to reduce the operational complexity of upgrading RHOSO cluster, where Lightspeed will provide AI-assistance through the upgrade. By delivering context-aware help for configurations and CLI commands, we aim to directly lower the number of support cases and manual effort required from customers, consultants, and our SREs. This should lead to faster and more reliable cluster upgrades as well as higher adoption rate of new versions.
Success Criteria
- An administrator can get an AI analysis of their RHOSO cluster configuration to identify potential issues before an installation or upgrade.
- A user can ask for a command in plain language and receive a correct, ready-to-use openstack CLI command.
- The system can answer questions about RHOSO upgrade procedures using information sourced from official Red Hat documentation.
Expected Results (what, how, when)
We expect this outcome to create a direct, incremental impact in three key areas:
Reduced Support and SRE Workload
- Fewer support cases in relation to RHOSO19 upgrades compared to RHOSO18
- Fewer Logged Consultant hours in relation to upgrade (if possible)
Increased Customer Upgrade Velocity and Success
Customers will be able to plan and execute upgrades more quickly and with a higher success rate.
- Measure Adoption rate of RHOSO 19
Post Completion Review – Actual Results
- Lower number of support cases related to upgrade from RHOSO18 to 19
- Faster adoption rate for RHOSO19 compared to RHOSO18
Important features
A list of features that has been identified for this outcome to be successful
- Cluster Context Awareness:
OpenStack Lightspeed to fetch context from OpenStack clusters so it can give better, more specific answers. Instead of just general advice, OpenStack Lightspeed should be able to look at what’s actually happening in a OpenStack cloud environment and respond with real answers about that specific environment
Acceptance Criteria:- Lightspeed can fetch live, read-only context data from a OpenStack cluster
- Suggestion of data collected includes but are not limited to: VM states, host status, volume health, and network conditions
- If no live cluster context is available, Lightspeed falls back to general guidance
- RHOSO Service MCP integration with key services
