      Initiative Overview:
Enterprises evaluating OS-Migrate for large-scale migrations need confidence in its performance and scalability. This initiative systematically tests OS-Migrate at scale—migrating thousands of VMs—to establish clear performance benchmarks, resource requirements, and limitations. By proactively identifying bottlenecks and potential bugs, we provide data-driven answers to customer inquiries and improve OS-Migrate’s reliability for large migrations.

      Goals:

      • Establish performance benchmarks for OS-Migrate at scale (e.g., number of VMs migrated per hour, resource consumption).
      • Determine resource requirements (CPU, memory, storage, network, number of Conversion hosts) for large-scale migrations.
      • Identify bottlenecks and performance issues before customers encounter them.
      • Ensure reliability by detecting and fixing scalability-related bugs.
      • Provide data-backed guidance for customers planning large-scale migrations

      Done - Acceptance Criteria:

      • OS-Migrate has been tested at scale with initially 30-50 VMs, and eventually 1000+ VMs migrated in a controlled environment.
      • Performance benchmarks are documented (e.g., migration speed, resource utilization).
      • A detailed report outlines recommended resource sizing for large-scale migrations.
      • Identified scalability issues are fixed, and improvements are validated.
      • Internal teams (Sales, Support, Engineering) have a reference guide for customer discussions.

      Out of Scope:

      • Feature development beyond performance/scalability improvements.
      • Custom tuning for specific customer environments (this initiative focuses on general benchmarks).
      • UI/UX improvements not related to performance testing.
