Feature Overview
Originally - BZ#1816766 [RFE] Support for uploading compressed images
Description of problem:
As a user I would like to upload compressed images to reduce the upload time and reduce the storage consumption on the source host. The process should be backend agnostic and support common compression format (zip, gzip).
It should also support both file and web image upload
Goals:
- Allow administrators to upload previous compressed images (gzip)
- Provide docs, CI regression testing and support enablement
Requirements
| Requirement | Notes | isMVP? |
|---|---|---|
| compression type = gzip | yes | |
| no other types? |
Done:
Use Cases:
Out of Scope:
Non gzip compression types
Documentation Considerations
Customer facing documentation will be needed, need to determine if there is upstream docs to leverage.
Questions to Answer
- Do we need to support anything besides gzip?
- Does testing need to validate performance impact?
Customer Considerations
As of 18-FR5, this is a nice to have - no current RHOSO customer requests
Prod/CI considerations:
Need to confirm no new packaging or CIFW changes needed
