Currently there is an issue in the product build of jupyterhub where a blank UI page is displayed after login. We have a reproducer for this with the product build image. Although the sequence of actions to cause the issue might not be performed by an end user, we would like to find the root cause and determine whether or not this issue exists upstream.

If the issue is downstream (product) only, then we need to determine whether it is due to OS or dependency differences, or differing code in downstream vs upstream.
