Elyra provides many useful plugins that can be helpful for data science users. In addition to the pipelines visual editor (which will be covered under separate epic), Elyra provides:

• Git plugin for Git integration
• Python editor plugin
• Python debugger plugin
• R editor

We want to include the first 3 items with all OOTB NB images, including minimal Python. We also want to use the latest versions in Elyra to ensure alignment with ODH. We have the first 3 items in other OOTB images - Std. data science, TensorFlow, etc. The rationale for including in all OOTB images is that these are core tools independent of specific libraries/packages. 

We will consider the R editor if we provide an OOTB R image.
