The user requesting this has Red Hat servers that are not connected to the internet, but they would like to make use of Insights just for reporting purposes ( e.g., recommendations, pending patches, etc ), mostly, with no control or automations.
They have an HTTP proxy that can be used to access the internet, but they can have only ONE system to make use of the proxy. To connect to insights, they cannot point all our systems at this proxy.
So the flow they are looking at is
Red Hat Insights \ Portal < – > Their ORGs HTTP Proxy < – > The Insights Proxy < – All RHEL clients
Based on the product docs:
- This is not possible with Insights Proxy as it is today
- This flow can only be achieved when we replace the insights proxy with a Satellite but CU does not have a satellite
The user's decision to use insights would depend on the outcome of this feature request i.e. allow connecting Insights Proxy to another HTTP proxy and forward the insights relevant requests to that proxy.
