      Story

      As a user of RHDH, I want to use the OpenTelemetry metrics from upstream so that I can monitor my application with supported events

      Background

      RHDH is relying on a deprecated prom-client. We need to update this as part of the adoption of Backstage 1.30

            Update

            • Node.js specific metrics are WIP in this PR which has been merged and released, these missing metrics are now included with OpenTelemetry. We can now upgrade with no issues.
            • Ideally we want to expose both host metrics and application metrics on the same port, asked question in the OTEL repo discussions
              • but this can be defined as a limitation for now to be improved in a future release because the host metrics are not as critical to have
            • A separate issue was created to look into updating charts and docs to support OTEL metrics via helm chart. The PR is ready to be reviewed and merged.
