      With this update, you can persist the audit log:

      * You can send {product} audit logs to a rotating file.

      * You can send logs to a locked down file with append only rights.

      * When using the Helm chart, {product-short} writes logs to persistent volumes.

      EPIC Goal

      The goal of this epic is to monitor all necessary audit log changes in the 1.3 release.

      Background/Feature Origin

      We need to backport our audit event implementation upstream to facilitate formal adoption by other plugins. Additionally, a more secure method of storing audit logs is required, and we have decided that a locked file with append-only rights is the best solution.

      Why is this important?

      Due to the incomplete tasks from the 1.2 audit log epic, these tasks have been carried over to the 1.3 audit log epic.
