Here is a request from Fujitsu regarding the documentation.

      Document link:

      https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/10-beta/html-single/using_image_mode_for_rhel_to_build_deploy_and_manage_operating_systems/index#network-configuration

      Section number and name:

      12.3. Network configuration

      Describe the issue:

      > Please read through documentation above and it should help you understand ways to configure network configuration in bootable containers.

Could you add the descriptions about network configuration options and the ways,
which are verified with Image mode for RHEL and supported by Red Hat, into its product documentation, "Using RHEL bootc images on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10"?

The documentation, "Fedora/CentOS bootc Documentation" you pointed looks
including some helpful information. However, It's for Fedora/CentOS, not for RHEL.

      Impact of this issue:

Fujitsu and customers expect all the required/helpful information for Image mode for RHEL is well described in its product documentation, "Using RHEL bootc images on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10".

      Suggestions for improvement:

Below, available options for configuring static ip, and their concrete ways how to configure should be one good example of required/helpful information.

      1. Via Containerfile : Create container image with static IP or Include code to generate network configuration from inside the image based on MAC address.

      2. Via Anaconda - using kickstart file.

      3. Via kernel arguments - Add kernel parameters on first boot to define networking configuration.

      4. Via NetworkManager key files :
                Using nmcli
                 or
                Using nm-initrd-generator

      > Is it expected to be described in the Fedora documentation?

Fujitsu don’t care it's described in the Fedora documentation or not, itself.
The Fedora documentation and RHEL product documentation are two different documentations.

As for descriptions in the Fedora documentation, yes, we expect if...

      • the descriptions in the Fedora documentation will be supported with Image Mode for RHEL10, AND
      • it's currently NOT described in the product documentation, "Using RHEL bootc images on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10", AND
      • the descriptions are required and/or helpful for customers to configure their systems.

Please note that Fujitsu is not sure descriptions in the Fedora documentation as-is are appropriate or not for RHEL.

Fujitsu expect Red Hat to review the current descriptions in the Fedora documentation and determine whether adding the descriptions as-is into the RHEL product documentation, or modify if needed, or something like that.

And also, if there's any other useful information than Fedora documentation, we expect the product documentation includes it as well.
