Section number and name: 4.8. Logging RPM activity to syslog
Describe the issue:
When I tried to install the rpm-plugin-syslog package according to the Prerequisites sub-section of the 4.8. Logging RPM activity to syslog section the following error occurred:
# dnf install rpm-plugin-syslog
Updating Subscription Management repositories.
Unable to read consumer identity
This system is not registered with an entitlement server. You can use subscription-manager to register.
Last metadata expiration check: 0:04:12 ago on Mon Dec 30 01:26:28 2024.
No match for argument: rpm-plugin-syslog
Error: Unable to find a match: rpm-plugin-syslog
It seems that the package is not available from the RHEL 9 software sources, but I may be wrong.
Impact of this issue: Documentation consumers will not be able to reproduce the same outcome as in the example output.
Suggestions for improvement: It seems that the RPM installation activity is being logged in the /var/log/dnf.rpm.log file, so we probably don't need that package now?
