      Goal

There is no way to offer free RHEL for development use in Google Cloud.  Both Google and Red Hat teams have identified this as a gap.  Our customers do not want to pay the full cost of commercial licenses for deploying RHEL for development use.

      Requirements

      • Offer a no-cost option for RHEL in Google Market Cloud public Marketplace.
      • Offer a clear path to a paid offer for instances that move from development to production.
      • Trial subscriptions are not ideal as they have a termination date. Development use-cases need RHEL without an end date.

      Dependencies

In order for us to successfully deliver RHEL in this route, we must also invest in content management so RHEL images in marketplace can be updated in the same manner as those running on premises.
