We received a message on Convert2RHEL Development group chat regarding some
failures in Convert2RHEL on Oracle Linux 7.9, in special, there is one that needs
further investigation when Convert2RHEL is run with satellite support, the
problem is-as follow (short description):
While reaching the point where the transaction is validated with yum, it seems
that a conflict is raised because of the `shim-x64` package that seems to be on
a different version in their satellite repos than what is expected by the
kernel package on the system.
Convert2RHEL should handle better the case when there is a conflict, specially
when it's regarding the kernel, as this is one of the most critical packages on
the system.
Notes
- Read out the notes in the Google Chat thread for more information about the
debugging and the problems.
Acceptance Criteria
- `shim-x64` package should not cause conflicts with the kernel when `shim-x64` is not installed anymore.
- Conflict handling should be improved to handle the case if it happens again.
- An integration test to validate that the issue was fixed.
