Testable
The convert2rhel tool has many checks to make sure the system is eligible and safe to convert. Currently, when running the tool, the user has no way to know beforehand if the conversion will succeed or not.
This RFE is to allow users to run convert2rhel in just a pre-conversion report/analysis mode - executing all the checks and stop before the actual conversion. This way the users can run this pre-conversion analysis for example through an inventory in Insights on their RHEL-derived systems and upon seeing a green "good-to-go" checkmark they'd know that they can proceed with the full system conversion with a decent chance of success.
For the minimal viable product it is enough to print the identified problems to the terminal and log file only. Subsequent iterations will add machine readable file output.
Acceptance criteria:
MVP:
- convert2rhel does not stop on the first problem found but continues on and at the end of the analysis it reports the identified problems so that the user learns about as many problems at once as possible.
- The list of problems in the analysis report may not be always complete because some checks have dependencies, for example availability of internet connection, or possibility to subscribe the system.
- The analysis ends right before the package replacement/system conversion.
- The identified issues are printed out to the terminal.
