What were you trying to do that didn't work?
Attempted to update or install ipa-server to/of version 4.12.2-14.el9_6.1 on a RHEL 9 system. The update fails due to a missing dependency on a higher version of samba-client-libs.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
The system is unable to apply updates to the ipa-server package. This prevents access to important bug fixes and security enhancements provided in the latest version, impacting the stability and security posture of the environment.
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
- ipa-server-4.12.2-14.el9_6.1.x86_64
- Current latest available samba-client-libs: samba-client-libs-4.21.3-3.el9.x86_64 https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/samba-client-libs/4.21.3-3.el9/x86_64/fd431d51/package
How reproducible is this bug?:
Consistently reproducible on all systems attempting the install/update via standard Red Hat repositories.
Steps to reproduce
- On a RHEL 9 system, attempt to install/update to ipa-server-4.12.2-14.el9_6.1.
- Observed below error:
- yum install ipa-server
Error:
Problem: cannot install the best candidate for the job
- nothing provides samba-client-libs >= 4.21.3-5.el9_6 needed by ipa-server-4.12.2-14.el9_6.1.x86_64 from rhel-9-for-x86_64-appstream-rpms
(try to add '-skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages or '-nobest' to use not only best candidate packages)
Expected results
The required version of samba-client-libs (>= 4.21.3-5.el9_6) should be available in the repositories to allow successful installation of the latest ipa-server package.
Actual results
The required version of samba-client-libs is not yet released on the portal, resulting in a dependency resolution failure during update.
