What were you trying to do that didn't work?
Note: This seems like an upstream issue, since the Chromium package from the RHEL standard repositories does not have this issue, so I'm leaving this as a documentation note.
I tried to install Chrome and Brave from their official RPM repositories. While the installation works and successfully installs these Chromium-based browsers, it throws the following error when running the brave-browser scriptlet.
As a result, the browser icon is missing on GNOME Shell, so it displays the fallback icon for executables
What is the impact of this issue to you?
It looks horrible
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
How reproducible is this bug?
Easily reproducible
Steps to reproduce
- Download the RPM package of Brave and Chrome, it will add the repo automatically.
- Wait until Brave is installed.
- Check your app drawer and search for Brave
Expected results
These browsers should display their icons and no /bin/xdg-icon-resource: line 1076: unexpected EOF while looking for matching ``' error should be displayed when installing.
