What were you trying to do that didn't work?
select network for sharing in gnome-remote-desktop in gnome-settings-daemon
What is the impact of this issue to you?
can't share desktop
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
gnome-settings-daemon-40.0.1-19.el9
How reproducible is this bug?:
Always
Steps to reproduce
- Have a number of networks on the server
- Set up server as per:
https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/html/using_the_desktop_environment_in_rhel_8/accessing-the-desktop-remotely_using-the-desktop-environment-in-rhel-8
https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/9/html/getting_started_with_the_gnome_desktop_environment/remotely-accessing-the-desktop-as-a-single-user_getting-started-with-the-gnome-desktop-environment - gsd-sharing gui shows external (Inet) network under 'Networks' whereas internal (lan) network is needed and there's no apparent way to change network
Expected results
An obvious way to select network under 'Networks' and subsequent success in establishing remote connection
Actual results
Failure
Also, setting up firewall for `vnc-server` following above links created service on public zone (including iface `bond0`); changing zone of service to internal zone (including iface `bridge0`) did not cause a corresponding change to network under 'Network'.
Also, killing pid of `gsd-sharing` resulted in 'Networks' showing 'No networks selected for sharing' - so, I guess there's a selection to be made somewhere.
