What were you trying to do that didn't work?

If I start an application (e.g. gvim) on a remote machine via ssh X11 tunneling, it leaves a stray icon in the doc, at exit.

What is the impact of this issue to you?

gnome-shell crashes is I click on the stray icon.

Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:

      • Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 9.6 (Plow)
      • gnome-shell-40.10-24.el9.x86_64

      How reproducible is this bug?

      Always

      Steps to reproduce

      1. Install gvim on host_b (yum install gvim)
      2. On host_a, run ssh -X user@host_b gvim test.txt
      3. Exit gvim
      4. On host_a, click on Activities, at the top bar
      5. Click on the "Vim" icon, in the dock

      Expected results

There should be no icon in the dock after quitting gvim.

      Actual results

Clicking on the stray icon makes gnome-shell crash. The problem happens both in Xorg and Wayland sessions.
