Goal

• We want the FUSE export to use coroutines so it can process requests in parallel for potentially better performance (depending on the underlying storage).
• We want multi-threading support to potentially improve performance (depending on the system configuration) by distributing CPU load across multiple cores.

Acceptance criteria

• No existing use case breaks
• Performance is hopefully better, especially when using multi-threading
