Need the rsyslog-hiredis module added to RHEL repos

3. What is the nature and description of the request?:

Currently, the rsyslog-hiredis module is not available in RHEL repos, but is available in Fedora 36 repos. The request is to add this package module to the RHEL 7, 8, and 9 repos so that it can be directly installed/updated via dnf.

4. Why does the customer need this?:

Because the rsyslog-hiredis is not available in RHEL repos, they build it from source in order to make use of it. However, because of this, rsyslog-hiredis breaks every time that rsyslog is updated, requiring manual work to rebuild the rpm module to work with the new version of rsyslog.

5. How would the customer like to achieve this?:

Add the rsyslog-hiredis rpm module to RHEL repos.

6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented:

This can be achieved by checking for the existence of the rsyslog-hiredis module in RHEL repos.

7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?:

The module exists on Fedora 36.

There is no other request for this in Red Hat Bugzilla as far as I can see.

8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target?:

RHEL7, RHEL8, RHEL9

9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?

No.
