What were you trying to do that didn't work?
When a smartcard reader or Yubikey is connected to the system after the machine has finished it's boot (and GDM is running), gsd-smartcard will not be called. Instead gdm-password will.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
Customer is unable to login with smartcard unless system is booted with device already plugged in.
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
gnome-settings-daemon-40.0.1-17.el9.x86_64
How reproducible is this bug?:
Consistently reproducible when smartcard device is not plugged in.
Steps to reproduce
- Start system with smartcard device not plugged into and allow it to reach GDM login prompt.
- Insert smartcard device.
- Observe behavior.
Expected results
gsd-smartcard called and user able to login using smartcard.
Actual results
gdm-password is called instead of gsd-smartcard.
