      1. Proposed title of this feature request

RFE RHEL 9 - Need Kicktstart Raid 1 support for /boot and zipl on s390x hardware

      2. Who is the customer behind the request? TBD

Account: name and acct # <- please include both
      TAM customer: yes
      CSM customer: no
      Strategic: yes

      3. What is the nature and description of the request?

Kickstart based installs where we attempt to configure a mdadm Raid-1 mirror will work for / but fail for /boot.   We need /boot to be properly mirrored via Kickstart and work with the zipl bootloader on the s390x hardware platform.

      4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

In many cases on s390x, the disk storage is already in a Raid configuration.   There are always some exceptions.  Currently we are using "Internal NVMe" storage and on s390x that is not Raid protected in the hardware.

As of now as a workaround they are working to develop a series of commands to convert /boot to a functional mdadm raid 1 mirror configuration post-installation.

      5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)

Include mdadm raid1 configuration for /boot in kickstart so that the system installs with /boot configured as software raid

      6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.

Verify if /boot is in mdadm configuration after installation.

      7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?

I was unable to find this in bz or jira.

      8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL8, RHEL9)?

      RHEL 9

      9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?

      10. List any affected packages or components.
