Description of problem:
When trying to connect NVMEoF rdma el8 newer kernel to an older nvmeT el8 I'm getting "nvme nvme3: Invalid MNAN value 1024" and the connection doesn't succeed:
- nvme connect --transport rdma --traddr xx --trsvcid 4420 --nqn zz
Failed to write to /dev/nvme-fabrics: Invalid argument
It works when connecting el8 to el7 target, it works when connecting el7 to that older nvmeT from above, it works when connecting from an older el8.
This is an extremely huge problem for us as we can't reboot that older nvmeT (SAN server) as it will kick nvme clients (and the whole infrastructure) out.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.18.0-305.25.1.el8_4.x86_64 (nvmeT)
any newer el8 kernel (nvme client)
It works between el8_4 client and target.
Thanks.
