Investigating use of PCP NVIDIA metrics with egallen recently, we observed that the libnvidia-ml runtime package contains the shared library with .so.1 symlink and .so.1.xxx (full version) shared object.  The PCP code is expecting a .so file however, which the packaging from NVIDIA supplied some time ago.

It will make life easier if the PCP code can use either .so or .so.1 file, given the former is typically a devel package artifact, and the latter is provided by the NVIDIA library runtime package (if the .so file is in a devel package somewhere still, it is preferable to only require the runtime package for production use).
