There are many tests in QEMU that qtests the functionality of the migration, but not the downtime performance of it. During Live Migration, there is a switchover point from the source to the destination machine during which neither of the machines is running. Therefore, this downtime should be as small as possible, but currently there are no tests that measure that and could possibly detect a downtime performance regression in the future.

The goal of this epic is to explore options of implementing such qtests, define the scope of the work required and finally, implement such tests.

      Acceptance Criteria:

      • The test will measure overall downtime and parts of the downtime for both source and destination machine
      • Parts of the downtime to be measured:
        • Migration steps (iterable/non-iterable)
        • Devices
      • The test will output the measured data in form of a CSV file and graphical plots
