What were you trying to do that didn't work?
Install a headless remote desktop server, like ThinLinc or TigerVNC.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
System is unusable as users cannot access it.
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
gnome-session-46.0-5.el10.x86_64
How reproducible is this bug?:
100%
Steps to reproduce
- sudo dnf install /usr/share/xsessions/gnome.desktop
Expected results
Package providing the file is installed.
Actual results
dnf doesn't find any package.
Additional details
I know this is intentional (RHEL-47039), but this is a request to bring this file back. Not for local logins, as that would require Xorg and all its dependencies, but for the remote desktop use case. As it stands, all terminal server type remote desktops still provide X11 based sessions.
Everything else seems to be in place. If I copy that file over from Fedora, then I get a fully working X11 GNOME desktop on RHEL 10 beta.
