What were you trying to do that didn't work?
Kickstart installations in text or cmdline mode using CDN as installation source can fail due to inability to fetch repository metadata (logs show that it's caused by getting an HTTP error 403 when accessing repomd.xml).
This would normally show an infrastructure/server problem, however it's worth noting that this doesn't happen in graphical mode, also registration via subscription-manager in installed system is successful, so it rather looks like an issue within Anaconda.
What is the impact of this issue to you?
It's not possible to install the system using CDN as a source with kickstart in text/cmdline mode.
Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:
anaconda-34.25.5.12-1.el9.x86_64
subscription-manager-1.29.43-1.el9.x86_64
How reproducible is this bug?:
100%*
Steps to reproduce
- Install RHEL-9.6.0-20250107.2 using kickstart in cmdline or text mode, using rhsm command.
Expected results
Installation source is set up properly, installation is successful.
Actual results
Installation fails due to inability to set up CDN as installation source.
Additional notes
*) It's not entirely clear to me how often/when this happens, as for the reproducibility. I've seen some of the testing jobs related to CDN go through smoothly, but when this issue is hit, it is reproducible again on the same machine (as well as in a VM locally).
