Customer has Observed important change between version RHDS 11.5 to 11.8 (memory required to do the backup is 10 times higher with 11.8 in comparison with 11.5).
As an example with 11.5 and a database of 50GB, memory consumption is less than 3GB. However, with the same database but with 11.8 (and higher) the memory consumption for the backup is 28GB.
- In the particular case of the testing, Customer can add more memory and the backup will succeed. However, they don't have so much memory available in production to make it work. Production database is around 250GB (for the biggest ldap). It means 5x times more than the one they use in the testing.
Below is the testing CU did in their lab with respect to online backups
- RHEL 8.6 + RHDS 11.5: OK, works
- RHEL 8.8 + RHDS 11.5: OK, works
- RHEL 8.8 + RHDS 11.8: Not OK , memory leaks
- RHEL 8.8 + RHDS 11.9: Not OK , memory leaks
- RHEL 8.10 + RHDS 11.9: Not OK , memory leaks
- RHEL 9.4 + RHDS 12.4: Not OK , memory leaks
Expected results
No memory leaks for RHDS 11.5 to 11.8 (and above) while performing online backups
Actual results
While performing online backups on RHDS between 11.5 and 11.8 (and beyond) the customer is observing 10x time more memory consumption in the backup process.
