What were you trying to do that didn't work?

Users that log in with NoMachine Workstation do not appear in who listing because NoMachine Workstation fails to register their session to /var/run/utmp. NoMachine Workstation depends on sessreg to register logins by default through its CommandSessreg setting which defaults to sessreg. The expected command, as per NoMachine's documentation, is sessreg.

This last worked in RHEL 8 as the xorg-x11-server-utils provided the sessreg command.

searching - dnf provides sessreg with the 'RHEL 9 repositories' and 'EPEL 9 repository' enabled and found no results.

What is the impact of this issue to you?

Users running who do not see their login sessions when logged in via NoMachine Workstation on RHEL 9 systems.

Please provide the package NVR for which the bug is seen:

      1. xorg-x11-server-utils on RHEL 9

      How reproducible is this bug?:

      Everytime.

      Steps to reproduce

      N/A

      Expected results

There's no documentation that mentions a replacement for sessreg.

Either this needs to be included in RHEL 9, or a replacement needs to be provided.

      Actual results

A search using # dnf provides sessreg with the RHEL 9 repositories and EPEL 9 repository enabled returns no results.
